Food for blood type A – What should you eat?

Heard of the saying, “You are what you eat”? Diets are tailor made to suit one’s particular blood type. This influences various factors such as weight issues, stress, energy levels and stamina. The diet should basically emphasize on strengthening the immune system, supply cancer fighting anti-oxidants and forbidding infections. Blood Type A Positive Diet

Vegetables: Consumption of a lot of vegetables is perfect for foods for blood type A. In its raw, fresh, pure and organic form is the best way to curb health related issues. Sprouts, tofu, okra, alfalfa, parsley etc are vital foods to be consumed in the daily diet. This will bring in a healthy balance. Garlic, broccoli, spinach, onions, pumpkins etc help to enhance the immune system. However, cabbage, mushroom, potato, eggplant, yam, tomatoes etc should be taken in lesser quantities.


Poultry and meat: Chicken, turkey and other poultry products are easily digestible, and hence is safe to consume for this blood group diet. But, consumption of beef, pork and lamb does not go well with this bloodline because of the low levels of stomach acid content.


Fruits: Alkaline fruits work best for this bloodline. This includes berries, plums, figs, peaches, bananas, grapes and apples. Fruits such as pineapple, cherry and apricot have digestive enzymes which aids the digestive system. In the same manner, grapefruit and lemon work in the same positive way too. However, fruits like melons, papayas, oranges etc hamper the mineral absorption and they should be avoided.


Dairy Products: They should be avoided, even though they are healthy and tasty. But, yogurt, string cheese, mozzarella and ricotta get to green signal to be consumed.


Spices: Condiments and spices have to be taken in proper combinations to avoid adverse effects and instead keep it positive. Avoid pepper, vinegar, ketchup, mayonnaise etc to avoid the possibility of the immune system getting hampered. But at the same time, miso, tamari, ginger, garlic and soy sauce are very good for the immune system.


Beverages: Alcohol based beverages such as beer or distilled liquor, and black tea, do not support the immune system and hence advised to be avoided. Nevertheless, a cup of coffee or green tea helps to increase the acidic secretions in the stomach, and aid digestion.



A Negative Blood Type Diet

Foods for A Positive and A Negative bloodline are almost similar, with a few exceptions.


Vegetables: One of the most important things for the A negative bloodline are plenty of vegetables. Leafy greens, pumpkin, broccoli, corrots, onions, garlic, turnips and the like are the recommended vegetables.


Meat: Red meat is not recommended for A negative blood type, but the option of fish and poultry is always open. Chicken is a good option, and so is turkey. Fish intake is also recommended.


Grains and beans: There are several grains that go down well with A negative bloodline. Apart from cereals, oat, rice and rye should be consumed on a regular basis. Preferably one cup servings, two to four times a day. Beans are also a big yes.
